City employees have been stringing up holiday lights over the past few weeks, but the official Holiday Lights Festival Kick-off Extravaganza is tonight, Thursday November 15 at 6pm. This ceremonial switch includes live music, holiday entertainment, a visit from Santa, and a fabulous fireworks show. There will be free hot cocoa and holiday cookies available for all the attendees this evening.

Too soon for you to start celebrating winter holidays? Beginning November 16 and running all the way through December 30, the Jingle Bus offers a 40-minute tour of downtown landmarks and the most decorated parts of the city. Rides are just $1 per person and the shuttle begins inside the Shops of Grand Avenue, where children receive a coloring book and all those donating to the Hunger Task Force receive a complimentary latte coupon from local roaster Stone Creek Coffee. Tours operate Thursday-Sunday from 6-9pm, with the last tour leaving at 8:20. For more information on the Jingle Bus and other activities, visit the Holiday Lights Festival website.
